B.Madison Releases New Single “ADDICTED”

She has done it again! B. Madiosn gets the summer off to an absolutely amazing start!

The singer has released her new club-banging SMASH single ADDICTED, which dropped Tuesday May 29th, 2012!

This is definitely a new favorite of ours from the pop/R&B sensation and we cannot WAIT to shake our ass all over the place to the hypnotic yet intense, Venture Brotherz produced beat!  Although this is a new sound for the lovely B. Madison, she pulls it off so effortlessly. Excited about the new music she will be bringing us in the near future..can’t wait!!

Is it safe to say we are ADDICTED…

Event: HBO’s Bryant Park Summer Film Festival!

Event: The Bristol-Simmonds Group x Yes Sir Entertainment Present HBO’s Bryant Park Summer Film Festival!
Date: Monday June 18th
Time: 4:15 - 11:30
Location: Bryant Park (42nd St at 6th Avenue)

Its nearing that time of year again for one of our favorite summer events, the Bryant Park Summer Film Festival (Shout out to Nunu V. for putting me on). We’ve done this several years in a row now & it’s always a huge success!

As some of you may already know, the Bryant Park Summer Film Festival has a showing every Monday during the summer. This is the 1st showing of the summer. The movie and admission to the park is totally FREE* and we are allowed to picnic on the Great Lawn of Bryant Park, which is normally closed to the public at other times of the year.

A few of you have come through before so you already know the deal. For those of you who haven’t done this before, please notice that the word “FREE*” had an asterisk next to it. The event is free, but the catch is that if you want to roll with the group, you must bring something. You CANNOT come through empty handed. We’ll bring some music, a boom box, & some blankets. We’d like for you all to supplement that with whatever you like (Food & drink, games, more blankets etc.), but again, the rule is you can’t come empty handed (Not that we needed to tell y’all that). Please list what you’re bringing on this event’s wall.

Also, notice the time. The lawn opens at 5pm but the movie doesn’t start until like 8/9pm. The idea is to get to the lawn as early as possible to get the best spots and the most space for everyone. So if you can, please get there early and bring blankets so we can take Ova! (If you can get there early w/ a blanket, say so on the wall).

Directions: Bryant Park is situated behind the New York Public Library in midtown Manhattan, between 40th and 42nd Streets & Fifth and Sixth Avenues.
Take the F, V, B, or D train to 42nd Street/Bryant Park
Take the 7 to 5th Avenue
When you get there look for a blue & white “North Shore LIJ Health System umbrella. We’ll be under it. (Usually the dead center of the Lawn).

So anyway, put this in your calendars and try to get off from work. :-) Bring whoever/invite whoever we really don’t mind (as long as they follow that one, aforementioned rule). If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us.

Runway To Racks: How Fashion Gets Knocked Off

pretaportre:

“There’s that infamous cerulean speech from The Devil Wears Prada that introduced a lot of the world to fashion’s domino-line of production. But, in reality, the process that puts a look on the runway, debuts it in stores, and then gets that exact look replicated for a fraction of the original cost is much more complicated, more calculated, and — dare we say it? — a little more menacing than even Miranda Priestly.

Status Report — Before creating their lines, many top-level designers receive reports, statistics, and inventories of the kinds of fabrics, trends, and raw materials that are popular at industry trade shows. Many times, these stats are taken into consideration when designing a collection. Ever wonder why a certain shade of neon is everywhere in any given season? It’s because designers often all receive the same information.

Show Time — Designers will host presentations or runway shows to debut their original designs. These seasonal fashion shows are attended by buyers, editors, journalists, and stylists. With the advent of online fashion-news sources, social photography tools, and livestreams, these shows are hardly an industry-only event anymore, and can be viewed, enjoyed, and dissected by nearly anyone with an Internet connection.

So Popular — Even before the clothing shown during a Fashion Week is produced in bulk, certain garments become more popular than others via online coverage, celebrity red carpet photos, and editorial fashion shoots. Sometimes, the pieces that get the most coverage don’t even end up being produced — meaning they don’t end up in stores at all.

Good Buy— Buyers for department stores and high-end boutiques meet with designers’ sales representatives to place orders for the upcoming season. These buyers are in charge of what gets stocked in stores, and in what quantities.

Study Up — Mass brands use this time to do research. Based on editorial coverage, consumer interest, and retail reports, they judge which styles, trends, and specific looks will sell. Then, their own team of designers gets to work making “inspired by” designs that incorporate the season’s trends without explicitly copying any look exactly.

Test Copy — As soon as designer duds hit the shelves, copycat brands go on shopping sprees and scoop up what they’ve seen as the most popular styles. Then, they go to work, often going so far as taking apart all the seams and replicating garment stitch by stitch. Because of loopholes in copyright laws, they’re able to copy the entire design of an item of clothing as long as they leave the fabric, lace patterns, or surface designs alone.

Due Justice — When copies are too blatant, the original designer will sue the brand producing the knock-off. That’s what happened in the court case that Gucci recently won. However, many of these defendants already anticipate the lawsuits, and build the cost of settling out of court into their budgets.

Et Voilà! — Even though a knock-off design costs tiny fraction of the original, it conveniently jumps over the heads of a whole industry of creative people, which is a big bummer (not to mention the fact that companies producing these pieces often engage in shady, unethical manufacturing practices)

However, with designer duds perpetually increasing in price, it’s not always possible to find affordable, trendy fashion that also has integrity.”

Karmin Hears ‘Crash Your Party’ on Radio for 1st Time

In the car after their sound check, Karmin was listening to the radio when DJ Ryno on 107.5 the River started TALKING TO THEM! They’ve always dreamed of the moment they could hear their song on the radio for the 1st time and this was that moment. The best part of this video has to be Amy’s reaction. That is every independent artists dream, to hear their song on the radio. This is a memorable experience because America watched their career grow on youtube after they covered Chris Brown’s ‘Look At Me Now’, and Amy reenacted Busta Rhymes insane flow with no problem. Now they are touring the world, having their songs played on the radio, and their videos played on television. This just goes to show dreams do come true.  Continue to chase your dreams, work hard, have faith, and be consistent and you too can enjoy the fruits of your labor. Never give up on your dreams!

Success is the best revenge.

Model: Tomii - Chasing Dreams And Ripping Runways

[ ISLAND JEWELS CAMPAIGN ]

In 2011, Tomii was chosen along with two other models to shoot a campaign for a company called Island Jewels, which was shot by Kovah Duncombe. Island Jewels is a company which supplies the majority of the Bahamas’ straw vendors and souvenir shops with goods such as sarong wraps, jewelry, hats as well as other clothing & souvenirs. It was a FULL day of shooting for Tomii, but for the most part everything ran very smoothly. Tomii says that was the day she learned every possible way to tie a sarong.

[ SOME LIKE IT HOT ]

Some Like It Hot was another fashion show Tomii had the pleasure of being apart of, which was held in Bermuda on April 6th 2012. There was actually a “Walk-Off” held in Nassau, Bahamas by Yodephy Dance and Modeling School, in search of one lucky model to represent the Bahamas in Bermuda. Its a funny story because Tomii was not going to enter, but a photographer she shot with earlier that day convinced her to go. When she arrived everyone was dressed in uniform model attire white tees and blue jeans, meanwhile she was the only one in black jeans and a grey leather vest looking like a true rebel! So Tomii attended and despite her being super nervous she gave it her best shot and WON! Tomii walked for Sidnie Couture of the UK, Thomas Lavone of the US (JerseyLicious) and two local clothing stores.
While there, Tomii was given the opportunity to shoot with some of the best chosen photographers who were all directed by Dave Hogan - UK
Tomii had the chance to experience what the Easter holiday is like in Bermuda as well…Fish cakes, hot cross buns, fish soup, kite flying and Swizzles :D … “Listen I was tasting fish cakes even after I left, thats how much we had! I love to feed my face and trust me I did.”  Tomii visited their local clubs and says she behaved but the verdict is still out on that. Tomii loved her visit to the Bermudas so much, she is actually in the process of planning another trip there. Tomii said it was such a beautiful & clean island, the people were absolutely great, very welcoming and quick to feed her fish cakes.

[ ISLANDS OF THE WORLD FASHION WEEK ]

Islands of the World Fashion Week (now called Islands of the World Fashion Showcase) is pretty much the biggest fashion event for the Bahamas as it stands. Its a venue for local and international designers and models to showcase their skills. This year it was a two night event, the fashion showcase on May 11th and the awards ceremony on May 12th. They gave awards for NextGen Designer (Zatthu INC), Sustainable Eco-Fashion(Harl Taylor) and Culture & Fashion (David Rolle… who actually won NextGen in 2010.)

Designers:
Jaeylu - St Lucia (Black and multi color - oriental )
Zatthu Inc - Bahamas (Swimsuit - green & black w/fur)
Miracle Hands - Guyana (straw skirt)
Kesia Estwick - Barbados (mini dress)
Alexis Campbell -Barbados (black Mini Dress)
Harl Taylor - Bahamas - (her beauty and the beast collection…. Guess who was the beauty ;)… White dress)
Theodore Elyett - Bahamas (Blue over size top and long pants)

Tomii thinks back to when she walked in 2010 and says, ”Compared to the Islands of the World Fashion Week in 2010 I definitely feel like I really rocked it this year. I made sure I stood out and booked the majority of designers. And I definitely accomplished that.” The hard working Tomii was booked for 8 out of 10 designers but only walked for 7 the night of. Although she did not get to walk for all the designers, Tomii still had sufficient runway time. ”Aside from the bookings, I gained a few more friends. Im a friendly person but I was much more sociable this year and got closer with some of the models. Nothing’s ever wrong with that… (You wont have to worry about models putting lotion in your shoes if you’re friends with them LOL).” - says the lovely Tomii.

We are happy to have Tomii as the newest addition to the Yes Sir Ent. family. She will only go up from here.  She is a hard working, motivated, determined young woman and failure is not an option for her.  Stay tuned for more from our Queen of The Runway!!
